Welcome to the girls Space where we have fun

Cheyenne, Briana, Brit, Lindsey

Enjoy the best Space of your LIFE

It's all about science year round

Try doing some of our
experiments, labs, and
objectives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BUNGEE JUMP EGG:
Materials:
rubber bands
eggs
ring stand
plastic bags
paper clips
ruler
metal ring for stand
sharpe

Rocket Biography:
He likes to climb mountains, and he is from Aulstralia. He is 13-years-old. He has a pet pig named Larry. he is fortunate because all of his family eccept him have faced the frying pan. Rocket is so stressed and devistated by the death of his family that he is deciding to risk his life and bungee jump because he has nothing to live for.

The BLOCK HEAD game countdown

Final Round People- Cheyenne Alyssa Tyler Halle Kyle
Final 4- Cheyenne, Alyssa, Halle, and Kyle
Final 3- Cheyenne, Alyssa, Halle
Final 2- Alyssa and Halle
WINNER- Alyssa

Our groups strategy for BLOCK HEAD is to position the blocks correctly so the blocks center of gravity will be positioned right. This will help us win the BLOCK HEAD game.

Swimming- Water is an example of a covalent bond, so swimming is to because you swim in water.
Soccer-
Both of these are ionic bonds because when a softball hits a bat, or when a soccer ball hits someones foot there is a transfer of electrons. Which makes them ionic bonds.

Interview With an Electron-

1.Type of Bond: Metallic
Characteristics: Substances are good conductors of electric current, There's an attraction of positive ions and free-moving electrons.

2. Type of Bond: Ionic
Characteristics: There's a transfer of electrons, compounds have a crystal-lattice structure.

3. Type of Bond: Covalent
Characteristics: There's an attraction between nuclei and shared electrons, Two or more non-metals are involved.

Objectives-

-Differentiate between reactants and products of a chemical reaction!!!!
-Record precise observations in an organized Matter!!!!

Chemical Reactions Lab

Reactants-
1. Sodium Bicarbonate
2. Calcium Chloride
3. Water
4. Bromothymol Blue Solution

www.dictionary.com
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bromothymol_blue

1. A white chyrstalline water soluble solid.
NaHCO3
2. A white lumpy deiquescent solid. Irritation to touch and do not inhale it.
CaCl2
3. A transparent, oderless, tasteless liquid, a compound of hydrogen and oxygen.
H2O
4. A chemicl indicator for weak acids and bases.

Try
this expriment at home.
Question- What happens when you combine different chemicals.
Hypothesis- The chemicals will react, turn different colors, and possibly explode.
Procedure-
1. Take 1 gram of Sodium Bicarbonate and pour it into a test tube.
2. Take 1 gram of Calcium Chloride and pour into the same test tube as Sodium Bicarbonate.
3. Record the observations of what happens.
4. Take 1 gram of Sodium Bicarbonate and 10mL water and mix them. Record
5. Take 1 gram of Sodium Bicarbonate and 10mL Brothymol Blue Solution. Record
6. Take 1 gram of Calcium Chloride and 10mL water, mix them. Record
7. Take 1 gram of Calcium Chloride and 10mL Brothymol Blue Solution. Record
8. Lastly, mix 10mL of each water and Brothymol Blue Solution. Record
9. Make a table and graph of your results.

Our Results-

Reactants

Observations

Sodium Bicarbonate and Calcium Chloride

Then we added Blue Solution

did not react, white and dry, temperature rose to 25.5 degrees Celcius
fizzed up when stirred, temperature was all over but it was 23.8 degrees C

Sodium Bicarbonate and Water

Clear, Sodium Bicarbonate settled out at the bottom of the test tube, temperature 18.5 degrees C

Sodium Bicarbonate and Blue Solution

Light blue, Sodium Bicarbonate settled at the bottom of the test tube, temperature went up and down,
temperature 18.8 degrees C

Calcium Chloride and Water

Foggy, looks like milk, Calcium Chloride settled at the bottom of the test tube, the temperature rose, the
temperature was 28.0 degrees C

Calcium Chloride and Blue Solution

Foggy, light blue, Calcium Chloride settled at the bottom of the test tube, the temperature rose, the temperature was
30.8 degrees C

Blue Solution and Water

it did not react, bluish clear, temperature decreased, the temperatue was 21.2 degrees C

For fun at the end mix 10mL and 1 gram. of each of the chemicals and see what happens. (Sodium Bicarbonate (1 gram), Calcium Chloride (1 gram), Water (10mL), and Brothymol Blur Solution (10mL))

Reactants

Observations

Sodium Bicarbonate, Calcium Chloride, Water, and Brothymol Blue Solution

When we mixed them together it fizzed up, white, blue when it bubbled over, many bubbles, the
temperature went up, the temperature was 2.5 degrees C
